Against animal testing

All of the base products have been independently tested by toxicologists, this testing does not require the use of animals or people in any way. However, the testing of the final product is down to you. I recommend that you do a patch test to make sure that you do not have reaction to any of the ingredients. The best way to do this is to put a small amount of the product on the inside of your arm and leave it for an hour before washing it off. Though if you do start to have a reaction, wash the product off immediately.

Vegan friendly

Balance products are as pure and ethical as possible, none of the products contain any animal derived ingredients, making all of my products suitable for vegans.

Paraben free

I do not use parabens in any Balance products. There is a Preservative System incorporated into the base products which is approved by the Soil Association and is Eco-Cert approved. the preservative system is very effective and will provide at least one year of shelf life (depending upon product).

Synthetic free

Balance is all about the finest natural products. I use only pure essential oils in the products and do not use any fragrances or artificial colours. Fragrance and colouring are responsible for a large amount of skin allergies and reactions - I want to make products which not only smell great, but do wonderful things for your skin. I believe this is only possible by using natural ingredients which nurture and protect your skin and body.

Ethically produced

I believe in order for you to enjoy your products, then all of the products need to be ethically produced, this is not always the cheapest option for ingredients, but it is the option which means we can all have a happy conscious, knowing people aren't suffering from our indulgence. I personally hand make all the blends and finished products and enjoy this enormously, so even if I do end up working till the wee small hours I can hardly count this as suffering.

Bottles and jars

All of the bottles and packaging I use are made within the EU or the USA. The rules in these areas helps to ensure that the workers have basic rights. None of the packaging is made in China, India or Africa where it is hard to ensure the human rights of the workers. Increasingly all of the packaging is made from, or contains a large part of recycled material. All of the plastic used is PET Plastic. PET Plastic not alone looks the best (mimicking glass), but has the lowest environmental footprint. It can be made of 100% recycled materials is 100% recyclable. Should it find its way to landfill, it will not leach into the soil and cause pollution damage, like some other plastics do. PET Plastic is a very light plastic and therefore transportation impacts are lower. Because all of the PET Plastic bottles are manufactured within Europe and it is European recycled material keeping within a relatively local loop, rather than sourcing from India or China.
